The wine has a very dark, almost black, deep red color with slight brick tones. Its aroma is rich with hints of chocolate, blackberry, cherry, spices, green pepper, leather, smoke, and nuts. The taste is equally intense and rich, with notes of dark chocolate and blackberries. The aftertaste is very pleasant, with tones of black cherries and almonds.

Goes perfectly with a delicious steak or a venison dish. It also goes well with aged cheese or on its own.

Directly after harvest, the grapes are air-dried through a process called "appassimento," which allows them to shrivel into raisins. This concentrates the sugar and flavors in the grapes, producing a distinctive and full-bodied wine well-suited to aging.
